The Marshall Plexi is widely considered as the ultimate rock amp and, to capture all of its magic, Universal Audio have crammed no less than three incarnations into the UAFX Lion '68 Super Lead Amp stompbox. This triple-Marshall-in-a-box sets you up with the sound of the Super Lead, the Super Bass and the Brown Mod version, the latter of which of course defined the sound of Eddie Van Halen's first five records, while the Super Bass and Super Lead Plexis have helped write the story of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and other iconic bands.

UA Dual-Engine Processing

If you believe 'modelled' gear can't feel authentic, you might want to think again. The UAFX Lion '68 boasts unprecedented realism in terms of both sound and feel, to the point where even the most expensive modeller can't outperform this highly advanced high-end stompbox. That's because the built-in, Universal Audio-developed Dual Engine processor features component-based modelling and incorporates every last detail and parameter, including things like harmonic distortion and power amp sag.

Renowned Speaker Emulations

Universal Audio is also the cream of the crop when it comes to speaker cabinet emulations. The UAFX Lion '68 Super Lead Amp is home to six authentically modelled speaker cabs, each of which has been captured in a fully acoustically-optimised room using superb studio microphones in combination with Dynamic Speaker Modelling technology - the same tech used to build the renowned Ox Amp Top Box.

So you can tweak the sound of all three Plexis in minute detail, UA have equipped the UAFX Lion '68 with a Maestro EP-III Echoplex preamp, a BOSS GE-10 ten-band EQ and, of course, a classic Variac, which helped Van Halen shape his incredibly popular sound. You can use the UAFX Control App to create custom presets that can then be called up with the footswitch, activate a noise-gate, sculpt custom sounds and go deep into the settings. In sum, if you love the sound of a Marshall Plexi but want to keep your set-up nice-and-compact, the UAFX Lion is undoubtedly your best bet.
