A replica of the 'Patent Applied For' humbuckers that helped shape the sound of the fifties, this is the Gibson 57 Classic Plus humbucker. Back in the day, Gibson would slap a 'Patent Applied For' sticker on the back of each of the original 'PAF' pickups while they waited for design approval. By happy accident, the coils of each pickup had also been overwound - a production fault at first - but a fault that resulted in the characteristic sound that made the '50s Les Paul such a legend. As such, the Gibson 57 Classic Plus humbucker has been overwound by design and loaded with the same Alnico II magnets and maple spacers as the original, before the rear has been stamped with that same iconic 'PAF' sticker. All 57 Classic Plus pickups have a two-wire, wax-potted setup.
