Lava Cable Solder-Free Kit RA Nickel Plugs Carolina Blue
Wrote the following about Lava Cable Solder-Free Kit RA Nickel Plugs Carolina Blue
On the picture one can see gold plated jacks I got nickel chrome plated once!??? Capacity per feet should be 28 pF per feet hence 280 pF on the 10 feet that you get I have measured 370 pF over the 10 feet. Not a big difference and still quite low capacitance.

Over the time I have bought two other Lava cable kits and guitar cable 6 meter silent version. All other products where top notch. Guitar cable is bit rigid because it is thick and silent jack is not a Neutric one and is easier to break and wear out but it is great value and it sounds awesome. Low Capacitance means a lot especially on the longer cables.
The other few kits I own were same principle as Evidence audio. You would screw in the rigid core of the cable in the plug it self. Nut part of the jack plug would cut the threads into the rigid core and once screwed in you could not pull it apart accept if you would break the cable. This is secure way to have an non soldier plug system. Cable outside isolation was less rigid and thinner and felt better to and cable was overall thinner despite same internal size of the core and shield.

This is nothing as that. In this one you do not screw in the core. When you assemble it screwing down the cap is sticking a pin next to the rigid core. This makes minimum contact and once cap gets any lose from moving the cable it will lose the contact. It relays on isolation pushing the core to the pin, but what happens when material is worn? Bad contacts.

I was stupid enough to cut cable to needed length before I saw this new plug. Otherwise I would return it. Now I am stuck with a product that I definitely do not want.

I am very disappointed in Lava Cables. Specially because I loved their products before this one. This one ruins it all for me.
