General

The nicely portable Kustom Defender 5H MOD valve amplifier head features an EL84 power amp valve and a 12AX7 preamp valve for a flexible range of British valve sounds. Perfect for practise sessions at home or in the rehearsal as well as humble gigs, this 5-Watt amp head comes equipped with a single volume pot for the gain level, allowing you to dial in anything from crisp cleans to heavy overdrive.

The Defender 5H MOD: Valves, Sounds and Impedances

From clean pop and electric blues to driving rock full of harmonic overtones at higher levels of distortion, the 12AX7 preamp valve plus EL84 power amp valve combo guarantees as a versatile palette of British guitar sounds. And, while the Kustom 5H MOD amp head has been specially developed to excel in conjunction with the Defender 1x12 speaker cabinet, it's also possible to hook up any other 4, 8 or 16-Ohm cab.

j'ai été plutôt surpris.

Pour moi 5W c'était aussi du petit volume,

J'étais bien loin de la vérité, ça envoi

obligé de jouer avec le volume sur 1

Dommage que l'on ne peut exploiter toute la plage du volume

le son est vraiment bon pas mal de basses, aigues pas trop agressifs, super..

Ca crunche pas mal

Il encaisse bien les effets (distos, chorus, flanger, ect...)



Pour info, je l'utilise avec un cabinet FAME, avec HP 12'

Fijne amp!

Ik vond 400 Volt voeding wat veel voor de EL84, heb het verlaagd naar 300 Volt (via nu enkelfazige gelijkrichting i.p.v. brug, toch geen brom). En heb een 15Watt LPAD (een soort dubbele draadgewonden potmeter) attenuator ingebouwd op de 8 ohm uitgang (€12,50), nu in de huiskamer lekker buizen geluid zonder overlast :-)

Ok dan....de goedkoopste buizenversterker voor gitaar, klein maar zeer fijn. Als eerste valt het gebrek aan knoppen op en de compacte behuizing. De volumeknop regelt alles en dat werkt erg simpel. Gebruik vooral je gitaar om jouw geluid te vinden, zet de output van effecten niet te hoog als je van zuiver houdt.
De Defender geeft behoorlijk wat herrie en slaapkamer niveau betekent heel voorzichtig aan de knop draaien (ik gebruik humbuckers en een 10" speaker,4 ohm open kast.)
De distortion uit de versterker vraagt wat hogere volumes....had ik al gezegd dat ie best veel herrie geeft?
Er zijn diverse modificaties te vinden voor de Defender 5h, even googlen en je vind hoe je er zelf het een en ander aan kan toevoegen zoals 2e volumeknop voor de eindbuis en tone control. Af fabriek zitten er Shuguang buizen in, prima buis en erg betrouwbaar/betaalbaar.
Geluid is erg helder (veel hoog), de toneknop op mijn gitaar staat altijd een beetje dicht om dat lekkere vette buizen gevoel te krijgen. Verder een mooie sustain en lekkere bite. Lekker stil, geen brom ruis en zoem.
Check voor gebruik even of de EL84 er goed in zit, bij mij arriveerde ie als toren van Pisa (Dank postnl die het pakket voor mijn neus uit de bus laat lazeren) gewoon even aandrukken en klaar.
Aanrader en zeker voor het geld een aanrader.
