General

Named after its two channel setup, the Koch Twintone III amplifier head comes complete with a four-button footswitch, so the output can be to shifted from bell-like, warm cleans to deep, saturated EL34-voiced crunch with effortless ease. The drive channel of the MkIII edition has also been given a make-over, treating this amp to even richer, even deeper gain sounds and, to support surgically-precise tone-shaping, each channel has been equipped with independent volume, bass, mid and treble control pots.

The Extensive Twintone III Head

Another useful tweak is the inclusion of two master volume pots marked Rhythm and Solo which, coupled with the footswitch do exactly what you'd expect - engage a sweet volume boost for quick switching between rhythms and mix-puncturing leads. A Presence pot has also been planted in the master section for dialling up the higher mids as preferred and, for that extra lift when needed, the footswitch can also be hit to engage the overdrive channel; apply a gain boost; and toggle the effects loop or built-in reverb on and off.

Ins & Outs

If you're toting a guitar mounted with high-output pickups like humbuckers, then jack it into the Bright Clean channel to reduce the clean channel gain by 6 decibels and, to compensate for the signal loss related to dual-coils, boosts the higher frequencies a touch. Once you've moulded your bespoke tone to shape, it can be outputted to an audio interface or PA mixer via the rear-mounted output, which is supported by improved speaker emulation.

Koch Quality

After a long career as a guitarist and tube amp expert, Dolf Koch founded his own company in 1988. Ever since then, the brand has been busy developing high-quality guitar and bass amplifiers that focus on function, flexibility and balanced, unique sound. Since each amp is carefully constructed and diligently tested in detail, it's little wonder that so many professionals rely on Koch quality.
