The Rode StereoVideoMic lets you provide your video recording with stereo audio. Thanks to its X/Y configuration, you will be able to pick up all sounds in perfect stereo. The StereoVideoMic has the same configuration as the VideoMic.
It is powered by a 9V battery, has a built-in high-pass filter and a -10dB pad switch, making this mic fit for nearly any video camera.
You can mount the StereoVideoMic on a microphone stand or on the Rode Boompole, as well as directly on your camera. The StereoVideoMic is therefore well fit for location reporting, TV studios, ENG, weddings, sporting events and interviews.

Op mijn Sony A58 zit geen uitgebreide geluidsinstelling, maar door de twee configuraties op de Rode microfoon kan ik omgevingsgeluiden, stemmen en zelfs live band muziek (+100db) probleemloos opnemen. In een stille omgeving zijn uiteraard de camera geluiden hoorbaar.
Onder op de microfoon zit een standaard statief aansluiting, waardoor deze op een statief(je) los van de camera kan worden geplaatst. En met een Jack verlengkabel of draadloze optie is het geluid nog beter te bepalen.
Het LEDje achterop laat overigens duidelijk zien dat deze aanstaat, waardoor ik zelden vergeet de microfoon aan te zetten.
Geheel werkt op 9V batterij.
Verder is het wel een overduidelijk verbetering ten opzichte van slechts de microfoon van mijn camera gebruiken, dus in die zin ben ik er helemaal te vreden over.
Het op nemen van geluid ruimtelijk geluid doet hij dan ook prima! Het zelfde al dan niet betere kwaliteit van de ZOOM H4n's zijn ingebouwde microfoon's.
De meegeleverde accessoires waren beter dan verwacht en met de bevestiging's mogelijkheden kan je hem moeiteloos op o.a. een hotshoe monteren.
Het is wel af te raden deze microfoon te gebruiken van interviews, omdat de pick-up pattern van de microfoon te breed is. Daardoor zal hij ruimtelijk geluid even hard op pikken als gesproken tekst.
Het fijne van de microfoon is dat hij goed kan worden gebruikt voor alles behalve dialoog.
Omdat het een stereo microfoon is, is hij ook goed te gebruiken voor dingen waarbij stereo noodzakelijk is; het voorbij rijden van een auto b.v.
Door de meegeleverde 9V batterij gaat hij behoorlijk veel langer mee dan de gemiddelde shotgun microfoon b.v.
Voor de prijs krijg je een prima allround microfoon!
