De hoofdtelefoonversterker kan mijn 150 ohm koptelefoon goed aansturen.
Handig dat er ook een externe voeding bij zit: ook als de pc uit staat kan ik synthesizer spelen zonder de koptelefoon of monitorboxen te moeten ompluggen. (Of ik zou in het BIOS van de pc moeten regelen dat de USB-poorten onder spanning moeten blijven staan, maar dat doe ik liever niet.)
Input 3 en 4 aan de achterkant zijn geschikt om mijn Hydrasynth op aan te sluiten: een match qua signaalsterkte en bij beide apparaten gebalanceerd. Met de volumeknop op de synthesizer moet ik het ingangsniveau regelen want er is voor zover ik weet geen Linux app voor deze interface waarmee niveaus, routing etc. ingesteld kunnen worden.
Mijn Ubuntu Studio 24.04.01 herkent het apparaat: op het routingschema van Qjackctl zijn blokjes met "Volt 4" te zien. Gelukkig maar, want op de webpagina's van Universal Audio is geen enkele Linux-ondersteuning te vinden.
De roundtrip latency is hoger dan bij vergelijkbaar geprijsde interfaces. Als je monitoring via de DAW belangrijk vindt is dit geen aanrader.

+ Stevige build.

Mindere punten:
- Lak wordt snel beschadigd bij onvoorzichtig gebruik of transport.
Kortom: doet wat het moet doen voor een goede prijs en een paar mooie extra’s.
