The MOTU 828 MK3 Hybrid audio interface offers a slew of innovative functions that include a universal hybrid FireWire and USB connectivity. Naturally, you also get amazing sound and reliable performance, plus ten channels for pristine 192 kHz analogue recording and playback. All this is combined with 16 ADAT channels with digital I/O and stereo S/PDIF.

Drivers = 3 sterren
De interface is op vlak van audio zeer goed. Genoeg opties enz. Alles wat je verwacht voor die prijs. Eigenlijk wil ik het ding 3,5 sterren geven maar dat gaat natuurlijk niet. Dus nu twijfel ik tussen de drie en de vier sterren.
De reden is de drivers. Ik heb veel problemen gehad met het ding stabiel te doen werken. Ik heb een Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H v1.0 moederbord met de Intel Z77 chipset en blijkbaar zijn daar USB problemen mee.
Aangesloten op Firewire werkte in het begin beter maar dan maakt hij soms ook nog piep geluiden tijdens bijvoorbeeld surfen op het web en tegelijk audio afspelen, en dit met een sample buffer van 512.
Ik heb mijn moederbord dan eens van een volledige upgrade voorzien, bios chipset drivers, USB drivers en zelfs de firmware van de USB hub chips (VIA810). Dit heeft allemaal geholpen en het is veel beter maar nog niet perfect.
Dus is nu natuurlijk het probleem, ligt het aan mijn PC of zijn de drivers van MOTU maar zwakjes? Mijn PC is nu meer dan twee jaar oud, en het is pas sinds de MOTU dat ik ontdekt heb dat er USB problemen zijn met de Intel Z77 chipset. Dat zegt ook al iets natuurlijk. Daarvoor had ik de Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 en die heeft nooit iets verkeerd gedaan.
