General
The AudioBox 22VSL is the newest generation USB audio/MIDI interface that takes hardware and software integration to the next level. The AudioBox VSL-series interfaces use the processing power of your computer and Presonus Virtual StudioLive, which enables it to offer reverb and delay effects and the same Fat Channel compressor, limiter, semi-parametric EQ, and high-pass filter as the Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 digital mixer.
High-end sound in a portable and robust package
The compact AudioBox 22VSL is powered via USB, and features two microphone/instrument combo inputs with phantom power and two line outputs. The Class A XMAX preamplifiers and 24-bit, 96 kHz conversion with a dynamic range of 114 dB guarantee a crystal-clear sound. Moreover, the legendary 150 mW headphone output's power is sure to blow you away, and the rugged steel housing ensures that the AudioBox 22VSL is able to withstand quite a beating.
The flexibility and power of software
If you don't want to use any of the included 50 Fat Channel presets of the StudioLive mixers, made by professional musicians and technicians, creating your own library of presets is made easy with the Editor/Librarian functions. The 50 included presets, however, do allow you to get started right away with the dynamic processing and EQ for vocals, guitar, etc. In addition, the AudioBox features seamless integration with the included Studio One Artist DAW and VSL, and is compatible with almost all Mac and Windows audio recording software.

VSL Software is not supported on Mac OS X 10.11 (or future versions). The AudioBox VSL interface can still be used class compliant with no control panel. To learn how to do this, please read this Knowledge Base Article.
Ik gebruik 'm voor m'n acoustische gitaar en m'n condensator microfoon dus de fantoom spanning kwam goed van pas. De midi aansluiting zal handig van pas komen als ik m'n TD-12 in de toekomst ga koppelen aan Superior drummer 2.1 van Toontrack.
Ik kreeg goede service van Presonus toen ik problemen had met het installeren van de gratis Studio One upgrade van Studio One 1 naar Studio One 2. Alles via de e-mailtjes van de helpdesk. Je moet wel rekenen op engelse support, maar de vorige reviewer meldde al dat Bax ook ondersteuning biedt.
Alles werkt goed onder Windows 7 64 Bit ook met Reaper(Ja.. geregistreerd!).
Daarnaast heb ik vanwege de bijgeleverde software nu een guitar Rig 4 plugin draaien op m'n Reaper.
De reden dat ik geen vijf sterren geeft is omdat de bijgeleverde software van Presonus nogal een warboel van site registraties en updates bij alle plugin leveranciers is, met meestal alleen engelse sites(voor mijn geen probleem, maar wellicht voor anderen wel). Je bent zo een flinke tijd aan het downloaden, installeren en updaten.
Om het iedereen wat gemakkelijker te maken hieronder wat je moet doen voor de software:
1: Presonus levert studio One versie 1
JA... EN...: Je moet Studio One versie 2 hebben.
WAAROM: Omdat sommige geleverde plug-ins bij Studio One versie 1
geen geldige registratienummers meer hebben.
Je hebt dus alles geïnstalleerd en komt erachter dat je
geen sleutels hebt voor Easy drummer Lite en Guitar-Rig.
OH..
2: Easy drummer Lite wordt niet meer gratis geleverd door
Presonus, vanwege een confict met de makers (Toontrack).
Je kunt het wel installeren, doe dit dus niet, je hebt geen sleutel.
3: Guitar Rig 3 wordt niet meer gratis geleverd door Presonus, bij studio One
versie 2 krijg je WEL Guitar Rig 4 gratis geleverd.
4: Om Studio One versie 2 te krijgen moet je eerst Studio One versie 1
installeren en registreren bij Presonus op de website.
WAAROM: Omdat je daarna op een upgrade knop kan drukken, waarin je
de nieuwe upgrade key kan plakken.
WELKE UPGRADE KEY: De key die Presonus je na registratie van Studio
One versie 1 automatisch heeft verstuurd. (Bij mij
zat ie in de spam folder van mijn email).
5: Reken op een zeer lang download en installatie verhaal:
Na registratie van de upgrade van Studio One versie 1 naar versie 2 kun je
alles downloaden van je aangemaakte Presonus account en daarna
installeren.
Ik heb Ziggo het goedkoopste abonnement, dus ik was een nachtje aan het
downloaden. Voor de updates van de plugin's bij de site van de makers,
nog een nachtje.
6: Ik heb zelf de map structuur van de bijgeleverde CD na moeten
bootsen en hierin m'n downloads geplaatst voordat ik goed kon installeren.
Kies bij het Studio One installatie menu dus niet voor installeren vanaf CD,
maar blader naar de folder waarin je de downloads hebt staan.
Sommige plug-ins gaven bij het installeren via het Studio One installatie
menu duidelijke foutmeldingen in welke map het een en andere werd
verwacht.
Om dit op te lossen:
- foutmelding weg klikken
- In de nagebootste mappen structuur het gezochte mapje aanmaken.
- Daar de setup executable van de plug-in in plaatsen en
weer opnieuw proberen te installeren.
Al met al dus een goed bakje, maar je bent een tijdje kwijt aan de software.
