The Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 is a beloved FireWire interface because of its affordable price, stable drivers and astounding audio quality! It has eight analogue microphone/line inputs with high-grade Focusrite preamps, eight analogue line outputs, two headphone connectors, ADAT I/O, S/P-DIF I/O and MIDI I/O. In short, you're provided with a total of 20 inputs and 20 outputs that you can only control and monitor via the clear Saffire MixControl software. If you don't connect the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, it can also be used as a stand-alone ADAT converter. It's therefore ideal for live recording applications.
Tips or comments about this product- Please note: The Focusrite Saffire interfaces work with FireWire 400 and are compatible with FireWire 800. They can also be used with Thunderbolt connectors, if you order the separately available FireWire - Thunderbolt adapter.

Binnen 10 minuten was de klus geklaard en kon ik direct de eerste opname maken in Logic Pro X. Alles werkt perfect. De meegeleverde Plug-In bundel is super! (vooral de midnight compressor en midnight EQ zijn fenomenaal goed!)
Kortom: veel waar voor je geld! Een geweldige interface.
Complimenten ook aan Bax-Shop. Ik had eerst een andere (aanzienlijk duurdere) interface op het oog, maar de helpdesk gaf eerlijk het advies dat er problemen kunnen ontstaan met OSX Yosemite. Niet gewoon maar verkopen, maar goed en duidelijk advies. Ook de verzending ging (wederom) super snel.

En iedereen die nog twijfelt...... Niet doen, gewoon een Focusrite Saffire bestellen!!
De units zijn via firewire te koppelen. Evt ook nog met ADAT of SPDIF extra om ook meerdere outputs van het 2e apparaat te kunnen gebruiken. Externe apparatuur is tevens via ADAT of SPDIF aan te sluiten. Mocht ik dat in de toekomst zinvol vinden.
Ik kan er alle kanten mee op dus ga er vanuit dat ik deze niet snel weg ga doen. Bouwkwaliteit is niets op aan te merken. Hoorde verhalen dat de gain knoppen pas laat in de schaal effect zouden hebben, maar heb daar nog geen last van gehad. Ik heb er eigenlijk niets op aan te merken. De Saffire 24 heb ik iets van 2 jaar en nooit problemen mee gehad. Gebruikte deze tevens als standard geluidskaart voor mijn thuispc en om gitaarpartijen in Cubase in op te nemen en over de al ingespeelde tracks op te nemen. Zelfs als Cubase loopt te stampen met een VST pedalboard geen latency problemen gehad. Ik hoor/merk het in ieder geval niet.
Mooie aan dit apparaat is ook de mix control software om zo latency vrij meerdere headphone mixen terug te sturen naar verschillende muziekanten. Dat handelt het apparaat intern af. Mocht je een door een DAW teruggestuurd geluid naar een headphone mix sturen kan dat ook. Het is even uitzoeken hoe de software werkt, maar de flexibiliteit ben ik nergens anders tegengekomen. De software herkent beide saffire apparaten en nummert automatisch de inputs/outputs door.
Waar het engelse commentaar hieronder het trouwens vandaan haalt dat er ook een DSP intern zit (compressie en delay etc.) geen idee, vermoed dat hij de Octopre of de saffire pro 24 DSP bedoeld. De combinatie van opties, kwaliteit/aantal van de pre-amps en prijs is top. Veel en flexibel is niet goedkoper te vinden.
Afhandeling van Bax-shop heeft mijn nog nooit teleurgesteld. Voor 10 uur besteld, dag erna in huis.

Enkel hadden de inputs iets duidelijker op de leds mogen zijn.

I'm so grateful to get it and in a better price than the all the "well know" european online music stores!
I'm musician/producer and I do recordings for different bands/styles and this Interface is incredible flexible to catch all sounds form different sources!
The best of all for me, it have their own internal processor and it's work into the same interface... that means that the workability of my mac goes even more fluent and lighter on recording/mixing/mastering process ... also is able to compress all signals on the input!... that's just fantastic for Vocals,piano, acoustic guitars, etc!

- Software is beetje ingewikkeld, duurt even voordat je het doorhebt
