General

The Liquid Saffire 56 is a multi-channel FireWire audio interface. With the Liquid technology in combination with the Saffire Pro FireWire audio interface, you get a complete recording and final mixing solution for your studio.

The Liquid Saffire 56 has six Focusrite microphone preamplifiers on board, along with two Liquid preamplifiers. Along with that, you also have the choice of ten different classic preamp emulations, including the Neve 1073, the Pultec MB-1 and the Telefunken V72. You can expect excellent quality from the Liquid Saffire preamps, with a low noise/signal ratio that ensures a perfect analogue-to-digital conversion.

Additional connectors include a 16-channel ADAT I/O, 10 analogue outputs, as well as MIDI and stereo S/PDIF. You don't have to worry about routing digital audio between different software applications either, because the Liquid Saffire 56 is also equipped with two virtual loop-back inputs. Speaking of routing possibilities, they're virtually endless, thanks to the Focusrite Saffire Mix Control software!

Wrote the following about Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 Audio interface

Na veel reviews gelezen te hebben de Saffire L56 gekocht. Gehoord naast Yamaha/Steinberg MR816X. Focusrite klinkt frisser, heeft meer transparantie in het hoog en klinkt duidelijker dan de preamps van Yamaha. Installatie op de Mac is een eitje. Veelgehoorde klacht over (te) weinig gain klopt niet; wel waar is dat de meeste gain op de laatste 1/4 van de pot zit, dus is het instellen vd gain zonder te clippen even lastig. De ultra flexibele routing is een uitkomst al had de interface wel iets overzichtelijker gekund. Enig nadeel: er had een DSP op mogen zitten waarmee je gemakkelijker zonder extern apparaat snel wat comfort-reverb en wat compressie kunt gebruiken. Dat zit wel op de Saffire 24DSP, dus dat had ik op het FW vlaggenschip ook wel willen hebben...verder topapparaat.

Wrote the following about Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 Audio interface

Degelijk product met veel in- en uitgangen. Ik gebruik deze interface in combinatie met pro tools 10. Helaas is de connectie niet altijd even stabiel en koet ik soms pt opnieuw opstarten. Ik weet niet of dit aan pro tools ligt of aan de liquid saffire. Een groot voordeel boven de avid interfaces is dat alle aangesloten apparatuur ook zonder software klinkt. Hierdoor kun je als muzikant heerlijk jammen zonder eerst sessies te moeten openen. Daarnaast zijn de twee headphones uitgangen op de voorzijde een verademing als er in de late uurtjes gewerkt moet worden. De meters zijn duidelijk leesbaar. Al met al een prima hart voor in de studio.
