General
The Twisted Electrons AY3 is an 8-bit oscillator module that harnesses the full force of a Texas Instruments sound-chip to generate the kind of satisfying crunches and blips of vintage gaming consoles like the ATARI. Use the fitted controls to dial in and create bit-crushed sonic sculptures or hook up a controller or sequencer via patch cables and go nuts. The AY3 module can also be chained up with other modules like an envelope or LFO to really blow the 8-bit door wide open.
Three Oscillators
Oscillator 1 and 2 can produce notes simultaneously, and if you open up the arp (arpeggio) control pot, oscillator one and two will start to alternate - and the further you open the pot, the faster they'll go. If just one oscillator is active, then you get a kind of gate effect, and both oscillators can be detuned against one another with the Spread pot to shape a more nostalgic, ancient-feeling analogue synth sound. The third oscillator, meanwhile, produces digital noise that can be used as an effect that can be pitch adjusted. This module can be set at three clock speeds: normal, helium (sped up), and deep (slowed right down).

The latest addition to the versatile Roland assortment, however, is the System-500, which is basically a new incarnation of their vintage System-100. Prepare to be blown away!

During the 2020 Winter NAMM Show, Behringer introduced their System 100 Modular Synthesizer. It's an incredibly accurate clone of the legendary modular Roland System 100M Circuits that first saw the light of day back in 1975, and the fact that these modules will soon be available in Eurorack formats is amazing news, even more so because of Behringer's benevolent prices!
