In EDM, you'll often come across a different kind of filter: one that sounds like an LPF and an HPF! But most synthesizers, for example, tend to feature a multi-mode filter that's either LPF or HPF - but never both. This rule also seems to apply to Eurorack modules. What you're actually hearing in those EDM tracks is a more expanded sweep from LPF to neutral and then to HPF, which is a classic feature of build-ups. It's exactly that effect that forms the core of the Erica Synths Black DJ VCF Eurorack module, which acts as a sort of big control knob that shifts from LPF, to open, to HPF.
