MXR M109 6-band EQ equalizer pedal

Hi Everyone!
Sorry, geen Nederlands :/

I mostly use Kemper but it is nice to play directly with an alltube amp sometimes. So I got a blackstar HT1R at home, an 1W all tube amp that has a nice clean sound while having "apartment friendly" volume. Since the amp is quite cozy to use, it has no EQ settings, so its sometimes limits your tone demands, especially on the clean ones. SO, I started to search for boosters or eq pedals and after a long search I decided to try MXR 6 Band Eq upon high level of good recommendations on the web.

Since I live in the Netherlands, I knew that BaxShop would deliver the pedal the very nex day and they surely did (btw the price is the same everywhere within the whole Europe), so I immediately connected the MXR it infront of my Blackstar and arranged the eq settings to classic V eq setting and WAOW!! Amazing difference!! The clean sound became incredibly transparent and well balanced so the dirty chanell too! Even so, the clean channel with some mids and trebles high, can give you an acoustic-ish tones from a nice strat or tele. It is a true bypass pedal and does not change your tone. Also, works with 9W battery so you don't need deal with adapters etc. Long story short, it %100 developed my amp eq keeping the original sound the same both in clean and crunch. Pure sound and easy to use. This pedal deserves every penny of it. I strongly recommend.

Overall: 5 stars!

NAMM 2016: Maintenance-Free Tape-Echo by Dunlop

Wednesday 20 January 2016 By Lizanne

Lots of guitarists out there would love to experiment with an old-school tape echo. You know, those warm, analogue 60s-70s delays, brought about by a tape recorder with all sorts of fascinating controls. Unfortunately, there are no free rides in this world. The price of a (secondhand) tape recorder, if you can find one, is often astronomical, not to mention the costs of the cartridges and maintenance. So, Dunlop launched the EP103 Echoplex.
