General
The outstanding Sire R7DZ electro-acoustic dreadnought somehow manages to come at an attainable price. The solid rosewood back and sides are topped with solid spruce mounted with a luxuriant ebony bridge complimented by the matching ebony fretboard. The acoustic sound has a rich character filled out by masses of harmonic overtones with a light scoop in the mid-range. The all-solid construction of the R7DZ offers much more resonance than chambers made with just a solid top and Sire have included an unmounted scratchplate that can be installed only if actually required.
The R7DZ: The Zebra 7 Preamp, Piëzo and Soundhole Single-Coil Package
The acoustic sound of this electro-acoustic model is registered by a set of two pickups. Under the bridge, and as expected, a piëzo is fitted while a soundhole single-coil pickup also comes included. This pairing is kept under control by the specially developed Zebra 7 external preamplification system that includes a BLE control that can be manipulated to strike the perfect balance between the two pickups while the PH switch is provided to make any phase adjustments as needed. To fine tune the amplified sound, 3-band EQ, gain and volume controls are also included.
