General

American guitar manufacturer Guild have expanded their Westerly Collection with the OM-240E: an electro-acoustic steel-string guitar with a Triple-O, orchestra body. This exquisite model has an AP-1 preamp on board to represent typical Guild sound and since it's a little smaller than a dreadnought, that means the tone is tighter and more direct. It's ideal for fingerpickers or full and accurate-sounding chords in a band set-up.

The Guild OM-240E: Arched Back

Largely responsible for the sound of the OM-240E Natural is the solid Canadian Sitka spruce top; an almost white-yellowish, high-density wood that shapes a warm, bright and sparkling sound with masses of volume to compensate for the typical lows of a dreadnought-size guitar. The result is well-balanced tone across the entire frequency range, supported by a '50s-style arched back for improved projection and enhanced sustain.

Guild Westerly Collection

Guild have been building high-quality instruments since 1953, and their acoustic guitars hark back to earlier, vintage models. Each of the steel-string guitars in their Westerly series feature solid woods and are equipped with a number of tasteful, luxurious details. What's more, the headstock is adorned with a traditional pearloid Guild emblem inlay and all of the guitars feature a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard. The Westerly series offers top-quality acoustic guitars at an attractive price and each guitar comes with a compatible Guild Polyfoam case.

Great guitar, with some specs you would never find in other ones at that price (Cost 369 euro). The sound is very clear, with an stable tunning, sometimes bright but conserving a powerful bass when doing some fingerpicking. Also the strumming keeps a good range of volume even if you tend to play loud (probably because of the arched back, which is awesome). Maybe it could do more plugged, but is nothing you cannot solve with some nice eq.

Of the many new products presented at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, some, like this new acoustic guitar from Yamaha, are real standouts. The Yamaha LL-TA dreadnought and the LS-TA triple oh models produce a sound that'll make you think you're playing in a room with great acoustics no matter where you are.
