General

The Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat 12 is the 12-string version of one of Fender's best sold Artist models of all time. This electro-acoustic instrument is based on the trusted old '60s Fender guitar of songwriter/guitarist Tim Armstrong. The beautiful red-brown solid mahogany concert body is accompanied by striking Hellcat position markers on the fretboard, double skulls near the 12th fret, a tortoise pickguard and cream-coloured bindings.

The top of the Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat 12 is made of solid mahogany, resulting in a high volume! Mahogany gives this guitar its deep, open (or warm) sound while preserving clarity, making sure that this Hellcat cuts through the mix just fine. The slightly more compact and round concert-size body adds a little fierceness to the sound. Together with the sparkling tone of the 12 steel strings, it provides the guitar with a very rich sound.

The Preamp

Naturally, this guitar does not lack a built-in preamp; thanks to the Fishman Isys III preamp you can confidently look forward to your next performance. The sound can be adjusted with the volume, bass, mid, and treble knobs and the integrated chromatic tuner makes tuning the 12 strings a doddle. All in all this is a beautiful, great-sounding and complete instrument for the serious amateur!

Na een aantal jaren weer eens een 12-snarige gitaar aangeschaft. Natuurlijk bij Bax. En weer niet teleurgesteld, want zij werd conform afspraak geleverd. Opnieuw complimenten.

Na een Gibson (Les Paul) heb ik dan nu ook eindelijk een Fender. En zij ziet er prachtig uit.
Mooi afgewerkt en wat het zo bijzonder maakt is de doffe body, daar waar veel gitaren een glanzende hebben. Iedereen, die de gitaar ziet valt het in positieve zin op. Als je de snaren met je vingers bespeelt komt er een "satijnen" geluid uit. Vol klank. Met plectrum kan het ook mooi vol zijn, maar als je wilt kan het ook hard en scherp zijn. Volop mogelijkheden dus. Versterkt maakt geen verschil, tenzij je je versterker extreem afregelt.
Moet wel weer oefenen na zoveel jaren.

Het is een Fender, dus een werk gitaar. Zij laat zich niet makkelijk bespelen. Je moet er moeite voor doen. Maar dat is wel uitdagend.

Top gitaar!

Mijn eerste 12-snarige gitaar, dus ik speel er nog een beetje onwennig op. Deze gitaar is dan ook niet bedoeld ter vervanging van mijn gewone gitaar, maar puur voor de afwisseling. Er zijn heel veel liedjes die echt heel mooi klinken met 12 snaren.

Afwerking van de gitaar is mooi. De klankast is kleiner dan ik had verwacht, maar laat toch een vol en mooi geluid horen. Natuurlijk is de kop wat zwaarder, omdat er 12 knoppen op zitten ipv 6, en er staat natuurlijk dubbel zoveel spanning op de hals, maar deze gitaar is echt goed afgewerkt en de balans is heel goed.

De kleur is mooi, en de katten met hoge rug op de hals zijn leuke details. En wat super handig is, is dat je de gitaar heel makkelijk kunt stemmen dmv de tuner die erop zit. Ik zag er nogal tegenop om dit met een gewoon stemapparaatje te doen, maar dit is echt ideaal.

En de prijs is ook alleszins aangenaam. Zeker een goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. Als je twijfelt over een 12-snarige gitaar, die een mooi en vol geluid geeft, dan is deze gitaar zeker aan te raden.

Nu maar even afwachten hoe het gaat als ik voor de eerste keer de snaren moet vervangen... ;-)

Oh, en zoals gewoonlijk was de levering door Bax snel en goed.
