Fender's Malibu Special is a parlour-style electro-acoustic steel-string guitar with a great sound. That's because it has a solid spruce top with a neck, back and sides all made of solid mahogany, while the fretboard is made of pau ferro. All of these wood types combine to give this model its rich and lively sound with good articulation and excellent dynamics.
Malibu Special: amplification and comfort
Whether you play with your fingers or with a pick, you'll appreciate the sounds this guitar is capable of producing. The acoustic sound is faithfully reproduced when amplified thanks to the built-in preamplifier that was jointly designed by Fender and Fishman and specially voiced for this California series model. In terms of playing comfort, the Malibu Special is impressive too. That's because of its slim taper C neck profile and the flatter 15.75-inch fretboard radius.
