General

Yamaha created the RGX series especially for aggressive guitarists, which can be seen in the body and neck design that is focused on comfortable playing of fast solos and tight riffs. The RGX121Z is the entry-level model from this series and it offers you the same fantastic playability as its big brothers for a price that is more accessible for beginners and advanced musicians on a budget. In addition to two humbuckers, the RGX121Z also has a single-coil pickup, making it highly adaptable to all kinds of music genres. It features an attractive red metallic finish with contrasting black pickups and black chrome hardware.

Yamaha RGX121Z RM: small price, big performance

Despite its low price, Yamaha definitely didn't skimp on the great specifications of the RGX121Z. It has a solid body for a full, tight tone for starters. Along with that, the back of the neck has been given a matte finish for more grip and less stick while you play. Just as its big brothers from the RGX series, the RGX121Z also has a thin neck with a wide almost 14-inch fretboard radius, making it easier to press down on strings and thus ideal for fast technical solos. Two deep cutaways in the body offer you unhindered access to the highest of the 22 frets. A vintage-style tremolo bridge makes it possible to add creative vibrato effects, and a set of sturdy self-lubricating tuners keeps it all in tune.

Versatile H-S-H pickup configuration

No matter what your taste in music is, with the Yamaha RGX121Z RM you'll always be able to find just the right sound. This guitar is armed with two humbucker pickups in the bridge and neck positions respectively, with a single-coil pickup in the middle. The humbuckers have a higher output than the single-coil giving them a fuller, warmer sound that's great for rougher music from blues rock to metal. The bright, clear sound of the single-coil is perfect for funky cleans, and with the 5-way switch you can choose from these three pickups or two combinations of them.
