Presenting the Rapier 22, British guitar-designer Alan Entwistle unveils the newest generation of a genuine sixties icon, complete with old-school charm and modern playability. In addition to an African okoume body, this electric guitar has a soft C-profile maple neck that comes topped with a 12"-radiussed rosewood fretboard and twenty-two medium jumbo frets - including a zero fret so the open strings sound nice-and-clear. Ready for rich riffs, the '22' even has an extra-stable Rapier Hi Lo roller bridge and a vibrato tailpiece.

The Rapier 22: Authentic Sounds

While the pickups planted on the Rapier models from yesteryear had a tendency to drop out of phase and lose volume, fortunately, this spanking new model doesn't suffer the same issues thanks to two Entwistle EWR64 mini-humbuckers. What's more, the traditional Rhythm/Solo toggle switch has been replaced with a modern 3-way pickup selector switch, giving contemporary guitarists the option to explore a broad range of sounds. The Rapier comes finished with two volume pots and a tone pot - all three of which feature 0.0015 MFD capacitors so a bright base tone is retained at lower volume levels - plus the two sliders that toggle a bass cut for the neck and bridge pickups.

Wrote the following about Rapier 22 Arctic White Electric Guitar

Vandaag de gitaar opgehaald bij vestiging Amsterdam, netjes en verrassend snel geholpen complimenten aan de medewerker aldaar.

De gitaar meteen thuis uitgepakt en gecontroleerd.
Onberispelijk product, ik kon geen enkel gebrek of toolmark resten vinden, wat voor dit en ook duurdere prijssegment niet altijd het geval is. Even alle knoppen en schakelaars getest op werking, neck bolt aangedraaid want schroeven hadden iets speling en even ingeplugd, alles werkt en klinkt veelbelovend!

Het pallisander fretboard was kurkdroog, de snaren wel goed maar over de datum,daarom snaren meteen eraf en toets eerst even diep geolied. Wat volgde was een complete metamorfose naar een prachtig donker kleurend rosewood met heerlijke houtnerf tekening die prachtig doorloopt.

Geen enkele scherpe fretrand, frets keurig gepolijst, mini humbuckers netjes in het plastic, evenals de pickguard. Hals kromming staat al perfect, pickups iets naar beneden, roller brug iets naar beneden gezet en ROTO Yellow’s snaren erop. Prachtige lage actie en geen enkele deadspot of buzz op de toets.

De bass-cut schakelaars laten je met één enkele flip overgaan van twangy rock naar diep midboost Jimi H sound op de hals mini humbucker, finetunen van je geluid lukt helemaal met een volume knop per afzonderlijke pickup en een tone knob die voor beide pickups mooi geleidelijk terugrolt. In de midden stand van de toggle switch krijg je dan een echt jazzy sound wat je op kan scherpen naar funky stuff. De brug pickup is lekker fris en scherp en geeft met een mooi overdrive pedaal ruimte voor prachtige ruimtevullende herrie.

Voor dit geld is dit een ontzettend veelzijdige gitaar.
Ik had hem gekocht omdat ik mini humbuckers wilde proberen en heb er geen spijt van, integendeel.
De gitaar is lekker compact, licht, heerlijke hals met goede Wilkinson tuners en vliegensvlug als je hem goed afstelt. Top gitaar!
