General

Fanned fret or multi-scale instruments are always a little bit special. Ormsby's SX GTR 7 Charcoal Burst is a 7-string electric guitar that was designed in Australia. It has a scale length that measures 25.5 inches at the high E string and 27.8 inches at the low B. That gives it an expressive and bright sound across the fretboard and prevents the low B from sounding muddy which can occur with 7-string instruments that have a standard scale length. Furthermore, the fanned frets fit naturally with the way your hand spans the fretboard making it a very comfortable instrument to play.

SX GTR 7 Charcoal Burst: sound and look

This Ormsby produces a solid sound thanks to its mahogany body. The flamed maple top adds brightness to the sound and adds a touch of class to the looks too. The fretboard is made of ebony and this not only contrasts beautifully with the body but is smooth to play and adds it own accent to the sound as well. The bone string nut, hipshot locking tuners and hipshot bridge with string-through-body are other notable features on this top-quality instrument.

Pickups

Ormsby have equipped the SX GTR 7 with their own pickups in the form of a Nunchucker A8 humbucker in the bridge position and an Old School A2 single-coil at the bridge. The former has a high output that even lets the low B string come through with plenty of power, while the latter counts vintage or funky-sounding tones among its assortment. An instrument as special as this deserves adequate protection, of course, which is why it comes with its own case. If you're looking for special 7-string electric guitar, this Ormsby ticks all the right boxes.
