Since 2016, Brandon Ellis has been shaping the sound of Black Dahlia Murder with his own blend of blistering old-school metal and ultra-modern leads. About time for a Jackson-stamped signature model, right? The Jackson Pro Series Brandon Ellis Kelly Signature stomper comes coated in an eighties retro green crackle finish, so you already have a pretty good idea of what you're getting. Big sound, high performance, sweet resonance and screaming sustain are guaranteed by the lightweight poplar body and neck-through construction. The maple neck has been reinforced with graphite, rendering it less sensitive to temperature and humidity shifts for maximum stability. The ebony fretboard has been fitted with 24 jumbo frets, for that extra light feel and reduced playing fatigue, while the compound radius graduates from 12 inches to 16 inches to provide a snug grip when grabbing chords lower down, and a fast and fluid feel as your fret hand moves further up the neck.

The Seymour Duncan Parallel Axis Humbucker

Since this is Ellis Kelly's signature model, it comes loaded with some impressive electronics. The single Seymour Duncan Parallel Axis at the bridge delivers defined humbucker tone framed by a percussive character, sustain for days, and the top-end presence demanded for shaping squealing solos. To dial in, refine and tighten up the sound of this blistering pickup, a single volume pot has been provided. This is then backed by a Floyd Rose double-locking system that retains unrivalled tuning stability alongside a smooth dynamic response when it comes to turning tremolo-arm tricks. More essential details lie in the super-secure Dunlop dual-locking strap buttons, pearloid inlay sharkfin position markers, and the Jackson-standard-issue reversed headstock.

Wrote the following about Jackson Pro Series Signature Brandon Ellis Kelly Green Crackle Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose 1000

Deze gitaar in eerste instantie vooral gekocht vanwege de looks ; zwart met groen doet wel wat voor me en dan in crackle ook nog en de omgedraaide kop , nou , gewoon proberen dacht ik , wel een beetje sceptisch over de afkomst ervan ...
Wat een geweldig instrument , direct uit de doos al perfect bespeelbaar ( lekkere snaarhoogte , intonatie / afstelling perfect ) de afwerking is ook prachtig , nergens iets te bekennen van 'foutjes' of onvolkomenheden ; een paar metalen onderdelen van de tremelo konden wel een poetsbeurtje gebruiken , maar dat is voor mij geen probleem .
Waar ik bij het kopen van een gitaar met een FloydRose al rekening mee houd , is het vervangen van de 'draai-op' arm voor de 'push-in' arm versie , en tegenwoordig is er voor mij ook bijgekomen om de gewone tuners te vervangen voor locking tuners ( ideaal als je - veel - gaat snaren wisselen ivm verschillende stemmingen bijv. ) ... met die 2 upgrades heb je al gelijk een gitaar die zich mag meten met zijn amerikaanse dure varianten .
Het geluid van deze gitaar is heel vet ! Riffs , solos , harmonics ... alles kan hij aan , de Seymour Duncan pick-up is wel een flink pluspunt voor deze Kelly , en dan is er nog de ophanging voor de gitaarband , die is op verzoek van Brandon wat hoger komen te zitten , en dat werkt , de gitaar kantelt niet naar voor , perfect !
Al met al een van de betere Jacksons in mijn collectie , en zeker voor de prijs !
