Beneath the tastefully destroyed paint-job lies a solid African mahogany body with a maple top, laying down an acoustic tone with plenty of warmth backed up by a touch of bite. Since this model has been directly based on Stanley’s actually guitar, the cracked mirror is anything but random; it's a precise recreation of the original finish, where each piece of broken mirror has been remade in acrylic shards before being carefully laid on the maple top by hand in the ESP workshop in Japan. Add on the two-piece Seymour Duncan humbucker load-out, and you get the full power of a Custom 5 at the bridge and the necessary warmth of a '59 at the neck, completing full and expertly balanced output.

A Solid Base

The build of the Ibanez PS3 has been polished off with a three-piece maple neck, which doesn't just boost the overall stability, but enhances the resonance while the deluxe ebony fretboard speeds up the response. To support light and controlled playability, Stanley has opted for a set of twenty-two medium frets, each finished with the Ibanez Prestige fret-edge treatment to guarantee a smooth and comfortable ride all the way up the neck. Meanwhile, solid tuning and precise intonation is assured by a Gotoh bridge and Gotoh tuners.
