General

From the accessibly inexpensive Electromatic Series, Gretsch offer up the Jet G5260 Baritone. With a longer-than-average scale length of 29.75-inches, this guitar is designed to be tuned from C-standard to an octave lower than E-standard, or even in the now-renowned Bass IV tuning. Mounted mini-humbuckers give the G5260 a full amplified tone with plenty of punch: think Country, to New Wave, and even as far as Ennio Morricone's Spaghetti Western soundtracking, add a little more gain and you get the idea of what this guitar wants to do. Naturally, this fully certified Gretsch comes fitted with stable tuning mechanics and string nut, a fixed bridge and V-Stoptail to finish a highly dependable single-cut guitar.

Ik was eerst bang dat een baritone gitaar te moeilijk bespeelbaar zou zijn, maar deze bevalt me beter dan mijn Strat. Deze Gretsch speelt gemakkelijk & is ook niet zo 'bulky' als ik had verwacht. De klank is goed, van clean jazzy getokkel tot heavy powerchords. Enige 2 minpuntjes wat mij betreft: de kleur is minder mooi dan op foto. Het ziet er heel donker uit & lijkt zwart vanop een afstand. En ten tweede: de hoge tonen zijn niet zo helder (maar ik ben dan ook een Strat gewoon, dus misschien moet ik hier gewoon nog aan wennen). Dit is een geweldige gitaar voor de prijs. Ze werd ook goed ingepakt & snel verstuurd.
