California and surfing are inextricably linked; something Leo Fender took convenient notice of back in the '60s. Over half a decade later, it's exactly because of his legacy that G&L present the Tributes Series Doheny in Surf Green. What was considered futuristic then, is what we call modern today, though. Just look at the offset design and bolt-on neck construction. The Doheny has been mounted with two Leo Fender-designed Magnetic Field Design single-coils wound with Formvar, meaning the magnetic poles can be individually tweaked to find your ultimate, jangly surf sound.

All-Around Flexibility

Since the Doheny boasts a basswood body, a vintage-gloss maple neck and a Brazilian cherry fretboard, it naturally can't do without a little trick stick. That's why G&L have fitted this electric guitar with a Dual-Fulcrum vibrato bridge so that even during intense dives, the tuning remains stable. Surprisingly flexible sound is delivered by the FTB system (passive treble and bass), which means the two tone controls aren't linked to the individual pickups but are paired instead: the top control takes care of the higher frequencies while the bottom one dials in the lows. This way, you can easily filter out a bit of bass or treble to shape new and interesting tonal combinations, which can then be further adjusted using the master volume knob and 3-way switch. This rad guitar might well be called the final result of years of experimenting.
