General
Leo Fender, the father of the eponymous T-style electric guitars, went into business with guitar designer George Fullerton and together they founded G&L guitars. The company makes the same guitars with several modern innovations. The blonde ASAT Classic Blues Semi-Hollow from G&L's budget-friendly Tribute series, is a modified version of Leo's iconic single-cutaway guitar from the fifties. It has the same vintage looks but is suited for a much wider array of musical styles, thanks to its versatile single-coil/humbucker pickup configuration. It'll do anything from country cleans via a bluesy edge to creamy rock leads.
G&L Tribute Bluesboy Semi-Hollow: Thinline Body
The ash body of the Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow features two sound chambers, one of which is underneath the f-shaped soundhole. This thinline construction was originally meant to save weight, but the accessory tone found much appraise among blues guitarists (among others). Compared to most traditional T-style guitars, the Bluesboy Semi-Hollow produces a sound that's a bit sweeter with a more restrained mid-section, accentuating bass and trebles.
G&L USA Hardware and Electronics
The G&L Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow features the same hardware and electronics as its American siblings: a G&L Magnetic Field Design single-coil pickup at the bridge and a G&L alnico humbucker at the neck. The bridge pickup produces a modern sound with some more output and less twang than the traditional T-style pickup, whereas the neck pickup has a warm vintage tone that is perfect for sultry, jazzy cleans and crunchy blues solos. The bridge on this guitar is a classic Ash Tray model equipped with six adjustable brass saddles for optimal intonation.
