Fender have a heavy burden to bear, as the famous Stratocaster name can only be used by them (despite that the model is often copied by other brands) and so it is their task to safeguard the renowned high quality of these instruments. Luckily, they've managed to do just that with their American Standard Stratocaster. Acquire this electric guitar and you will own a genuine Strat that is built like those vintage '50s models yet with several modern modifications. This version was given a classic makeover and produces an extra-wicked sound thanks to its new Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coil pickups. This guitar comes with accessory guitar strap, rugged case, instrument cable and a polishing cloth.

The new, old Fat '50s pickups of the American Standard

The most notable alteration since the Fender American Standard Strat's previous edition are its three Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coil pickups. These single coils immerse guitarists in a fat, full fifties sound with a modern touch: a more powerful bass and less protrusive mids. On top of that, the sound of the pickup switch's mid positions (2 and 4) is wonderfully hum-free from now on, thanks to the reverse-wound middle pickup. When you opt for a Fender American Standard Strat, you can choose between a maple fretboard and a slightly darker rosewood one that is rich on trebles. Also, this guitar is available in a broad palette of different colours, including this beautiful red-brown Sienna Sunburst. Finally, the foxed knobs and pickup covers emanate a vintage feel and road-worn look.

American Standard Stratocaster: modern improvements

The Strat has been virtually unaltered since its introduction in 1954, but Fender have kept it up-to-date, providing the neck of the American Standard Stratocaster with 22 medium jumbo frets, a two-way Truss Rod and a flatter 9.5-inch fretboard radius. The vintage-style tremolo bridge is also modernised with just two mounting points so that the guitar retains its tuning better. New friction-free steel bridge saddles and a solid steel block add more tone and sustain and the staggered machine heads allow for optimal pressure on the top saddle without the need for a second string guide, so there is less friction and a more stable tuning.
