General

The effortlessly cool Fazley Double Cut (or FDC for short) boasts the solid base laid down by a mahogany body finished with deep cutaways to retain optimum balance and grant smooth access to the highest of the 22 frets, while the matching mahogany C-profile neck completes a rich and resonant foundation sound. The single P-90 pickup in the mid-position wields a touch more power than a single-coil and a touch more brightness than a humbucker, amounting to a solid output framed by a fierce yet tasty bite, and fully prepping the Fazley FDC418 electric guitar to take on an immense array of playing styles, all the way from straight-up pop to alt-rock.

Fazley FDC418BB Butterscotch Blonde Electric Guitar

I'm generally very pleased with this guitar. It looks great and feels solid. The tuners and pots are both smooth in operation and between the volume and tone pots there is an excellent tonal range available. The action as delivered was perfect and the guitar is easy and enjoyable to play. The sound from the pickup is perhaps a little quiet but with little in the way of background noise. There is no sign of fret sprout. The strings fitted are dirty (oxidised?) I've played with the intonation although this was not bad as delivered - this type of bridge makes achieving a perfect setting pretty much impossible. I'm not impressed that the bridge height had been adjusted with a screwdriver that was far too small, leaving the screws burred and so sharp that I had to take a file to them. This has sadly spoiled the looks of a very nice guitar somewhat.

Exceptional value for money, particularly as mine was discounted to £60.Great feel and build, electrics are well above other guitars at this level and the pickup sounds great. It even came with a half decent setup.

If Im really nitpicking, its more orangey than butterscotch. The strings are junk. And there are a few (very) minor finish issues. However, many of these are the same issues Ive encountered on £300 guitars.

So for the cost, its a no brainer. A colleague at work actually guessed it was a £600 guitar - I wouldn't go that far but it is fantastic value.

I like it however.
There is a little sanding by the neck pocket and has changed the color underneath the top coat. It's not much but on the side closest when playing. It was poorly set up or not at all really. I had to fully release the truss rod and lower the bridge all the way. This is still not quite enough for me but the guitar needs a fret level anyway.I think that's where they save some money. So after a fret level, cut the nut a little more and tighten the truss a little it should be nice for me. I like the feel of the back of the neck and keep thinking it feels like my PRS SE which is not a bad thing. There is no scaff joint joining the head stock only a little add on at the pocket which is nice. No guitar is any good without a proper setup. It really will make it or break it for you.

That guitar is a total surprise :
The finish is much nicer than I expected, the sound of the P-90 really decent, and the hardware is doing its job...
At 82 euros I wasn't expecting custom shop quality 😄😄 but the overall build is fine...
Every time I add a new guitar to my collection ( especially a low-budget guitar ) I always do the following :
Level the frets, re-do the wiring, shield the cavities and if need be upgrade the pickups and hardware...
So I did it here too...
Eventually I will replace the tuners with something better but after tightening them they're smooth and stable so that can wait...
The Epiphone bridge does what it's supposed to do...
But anyway...For a guitar that sells for 82 euros build quality is on a par with guitars costing 3 times the price...
If it takes 2 hours of extra work and some upgrades who cares ?
I'll probably get a second one soon or maybe the singlecut model...
