Following decades spent growing his imposing tone as well as his imposing beard, Carpenter knows exactly what he wants from his instrument. As such, this seven-string T-model boasts the seamless playability, solid stability and lush resonance of a neck-thru construction, where the maple neck has been shot through two alder wings to complete the body. Add that to the 27 inch scale length and you get a tight feel, sound and intonation across every string, from the deep growl of the ultra-low bass strings, to the gleaming howl of the high strings. Departing from the first edition, the ESP LTD 7-string features an exclusive set of active signature Fishman Fluence SRC humbuckers that give this baritone model the forceful, meaty output demanded by the Deftones sound. Via a push-pull volume pot, the output can be flipped between two different voicings, where the first setting unleashes that unmistakable Fluence Modern sound plus a little extra-clear mid tweak, and the second setting lays on even more fire and bite. As well as solid sound, the tuning stability and intonation of this deep-diving chopping board is just as solid, from the full set of locking machine heads to the mounted TonePros Locking Tune-O-Matic bridge.
