General

For the DC Pro, Epiphone have plucked their Del Ray Double Cut model straight out of 1995 before carefully and sensitively modernising it. The solid mahogany body is finished with the vintage charm of a triple-A flamed maple top and opens up rich tone and unbelievable sustain. The matching mahogany neck is deep-set for comfortable access to each of the 24 medium jumbo frets along the pau ferro fretboard, while the C-profile elevates the playing comfort even further. As with all Epiphone models, the scale length of the DC Pro measures 24.75 inches while the fretboard radius lies at 12 inches to complete a staggering, and definitely modern, instrument.

The DC Pro: Tonal Gymnastics

Two passive ProBuckers use Alnico II magnets to create an initial sound that comes close mimicking the PAF-style pickups of the '50s. A highly technical, and just as effective, detail is that the humbucker at the bridge has a little more winding so that it maintains optimum balance with the neck pickup. Both can be split using their corresponding volume pot to transform their thick humbucker warmth into a shimmering single-coil twang. The ultimate cherry on this versatile cake is the inclusion of a Treble Bleed circuit that retains brightness at low volume.

Hardware

Just so you really know what you have, Epiphone have blessed the DC Pro with one of their legendary LockTune Tune-o-Matic bridges with StopBar tailpiece. This patented system automatically fixes the bridge without the need for any tools and is fully adjustable for accurate intonation and fine-tuned string-height. At the other end, a set of Grover machine heads keeps the tuning stable with the reliable support of a Graph Tech NuBone string nut. This unique synthetic material is much more consistent than bone or ivory and adds a little more midrange accent to the overall sound. The body of the DC Pro is finished with luxurious little touches like the cream binding and nickel-plated pickup covers.
