General

If you're looking for a 5-string bass guitar that will give you years of playing pleasure and has a versatile pickup configuration too, Yamaha's BB435 is an excellent choice. This 400 series Broad Bass is equipped with YGD Custom V5 pickups that offer an authentic vintage sound with plenty of brightness that can cut straight through any mix. Adjusting the tone is easy using the two volume controls and one for the master tone.

BB435: well-balanced

The BB435's body and neck are thinner than before, making it lighter and improving the overall playing comfort. The machine heads are lighter too, ensuring that the instrument is perfectly balanced. The fretboard radius of 10 inches and a scale length of 34 inches offer a familiar feel. For improved resonance and tuning stability, the BB435 has a Graph Tech TUSQ string nut.

Stable construction

The necks of many bass guitars are bolted on the body using four or sometimes five screws. Yamaha, however, use six screws on the BB435 which makes the join closer and tighter, resulting in a noticeably improved sound and feel. Other features that improve the resonance include the Vintage Plus Light bridge where the strings run through to the body at an angle of 45°. Finally, the low B string has an offset saddle for a tighter feel and optimal playability.
