General

Since the 2022 reunion of Pantera, Rex Brown has been depending on his Gibson Thunderbird again. This Artist Collection signature bass features the legendary metal-head's preferred specs and, thanks to the mahogany body and matching set-in neck, lays down a seriously strong sonic foundation. Polished off with high-gloss nitro lacquer, this opulent black bass has been decked out with gold-plated hardware and comes wrapped up in a matching Modern Series hardshell case.

The Rex Brown Thunderbird: I'll Cast a Shadow

Besides an etching of Rex on the backplate, the Gibson Rex Brown Thunderbird has been adorned with a truss rod cover and pickup covers subtly marked with the bassist's initials. The custom Rexbucker Thunderbird pickups, meanwhile, not only guarantee thundering tone but are backed up by a push/pull tone pot that lets you switch between passive or active sound. To increase the sonic versatility some more, Gibson have finished this dapper bass with a Hipshot Bass Bridge and Hipshot Mini-Clover tuners complete with an Xtender to support songs in drop-D.
