Wrote the following about Fender Vintera II 60s Precision Bass RW Olympic White Electric Bass with Deluxe Gig Bag

Na een mislukte deal met een B-stock (hij deed het niet) toch maar een nieuwe meegenomen. Wauw! Wat een fijne bas!!! Maar er moest wel enorm aan gesleuteld worden om hem zo te krijgen. De hals stond helemaal hol met zo'n 2mm speling bij de zevende fret. En de brug stond hoger dan de Golden Gate... maar goed, een middagje klooien en je hebt wat!

Wat heel onhandig is, is dat de halspen alleen maar te verstellen is als je de hals van de body haalt. Ja, dat is absoluut 'period correct' zoals dat zo mooi heet, maar handig is anders. Wat ook erg vintage is en onhandig: de mechanieken draaien tegengesteld. Het went... ik heb een Stingray waarvan ik inmiddels ook door heb dat de g-snaar aan de andere kant van de kop gestemd moet worden.

Na de afstelbeurt en een setje Tomastik Infeld Jazz-flats blijft er een heerlijk spelen bas over. De hals is fijn, écht p-bass, niet zo'n Jazz Bass-luciferhoutje. De afwerking is verder verbluffend goed. Alles sluit mooi aan en ziet er fantastisch uit. Ik twijfel alleen nog over de pickups en de elektronica. Het is oké maar misschien dat ik er tóch nog iets mooiers in ga schroeven maar dat ga ik op mijn gemak uitzoeken. Ik wil uiteindelijk naar een Motown/Palledino-achtige sound: vol, diep en intens dynamisch. Dus wellicht dat ik de Pure Vintage uit mijn andere Precision er eens in ga zetten. Kijken hoe dat bevalt.

Overigens was het ruilen geen probleem. Bax doet dat prima.
