General
Short-scale bass guitars are loved by bassists who're active in a wide range of styles. With its 30-inch scale length, this Mustang Bass from Fender's American Performer Series closely matches Leo Fender's original design and then adds a little more! In addition to the classic split-coil pickup in the mid position, it also has a Jazz Bass single-coil pickup at the bridge. Both pickups come from Fender's Yosemite Series and feature flat staggered poles and a shellac coating, which means they deliver a higher output and prevent problems with feedback. Two volume controls allow you to mix the sound to perfection and the Tone potentiometer has a Greasebucket Tone circuit that gives you more control over both the high and low frequencies.
The American Performer Mustang Bass: Classic Design With Modern Perks
This Mustang also offers bassists optimal playing comfort thanks to the modern C profile of the maple neck in combination with the satin-gloss finish and the 9.5-inch radius of the rosewood fretboard. The nineteen jumbo frets also play their part when it comes to the playability, while other notable features include the vintage-looking, paddle-style machine heads that actually have a modern, lightweight design. In short, if you're after a real American Mustang bass that won't cost you an arm and a leg, you just found it.
