Wow. I set my expectations low to match the price but I'm really impressed with the iconic fretless jazz tones it makes. Can't really ask for more at such a bargain price.

I got this, B stock, for the ridiculous price of £62. it was meant to be the base for a project but I probably won't as it's too good for that. At a push it could have been gigged straight out of the box. Negatives - bridge was not correctly aligned so the G was closer to the finger board edge at the body join than at the nut, the E correspondingly too far inboard by about 2.5mm. I have replaced the bridge with a heavy mass unit with adjustable string spacing anyway, so no problem for me but not good. Plastic nut has also been replaced with bone and strings changed for flatwounds. Fingerboard needed a little work with the fret lines standing proud at the 15th and 16th, and on the edge of the 12th. 1000 grade sandpaper over the whole fingerboard once these were levelled off and a good coat of oil. The apparently totally unfinished back of the neck also benefitted from a little smoothing and oiling. Tuning heads are cheap but work well, pick ups ditto. They hum, but it's a JB so deal with it. Finish is too good for me to replace even though I don't much like 'bursts, and I love the lack of scratchplate. Replacement parts and strings less than £38, so if you have the skills to fit them, and do a bit of 'board fettling and set-up, this could be the best sub £100 bass you'll ever own. Fifth star lost due to the bridge misalignment.
