General
The only thing more legendary than bass player Jack Casady, known from the bands Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, is his Epiphone signature bass. Casady had always been a fan of semi hollow-body Gibson basses, but he wasn't particularly fond of the pickups. This Jack Casady Signature Bass is the result of years of experimentation with various components until he found the perfect electric sound and the response of an acoustic bass.
Jack Casady Signature Bass: semi hollow, full sound
The sound of this bass is mostly thanks to the semi hollow body that is made of maple. The fact that it's semi hollow causes it to have a somewhat woolly sound, of course, but the maple compensates by providing a touch of sparkle. The mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard adds definition and warmth to the overall sound. Contrary to other semi hollow -body basses, the scale length is 34 inches, for the feel and sound of a standard bass.
JCB-1 humbucker
For Jack's ultimate sound, this signature bass features a special pickup: the JCB-1 humbucker with low impedance to ensure a natural sound without any risk of humming or distortion. By means of the VariTone switch, the sound can be adjusted as desired to make this bass suitable for any genre you want to use it for. Bass players around the world are impressed by this guitar for a reason—the Ebony Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass is in a class of its own!
