The Tonebone PZ-PRE starts with two inputs, which you can switch between simply by hitting the Toggle footswitch over on the right. Each input has been kitted out with a dedicated volume control and a 10mOhm piezo buffer to ensure optimal signal transfer. Meanwhile, the unique Blend-Mix function can be activated to ensure that, if you're working with two pickups, the Volume pot becomes your blend pot, ensuring seamless sound. Over in the EQ section, you'll find powerful bass and treble controls alongside a semi-parametric mid-range pot, giving you deep-diving control over your tone and, to counter unwelcome feedback, a Notch filter with variable Frequency control and a Phase switch have both been provided. Even if you need to filter out any more muddy bass frequencies, you can simply tweak the Lo-Cut (high-pass) filter and clean things up.

Extra Functions

To help expand your live shows, the PZ-PRE comes equipped with both an FX loop to support the rest of your effect pedal arsenal and a built-in booster which, when hit, boosts the volume to support solos or to bring out finger-picking with more force. The Boost function or FX loop can be assigned to the middle footswitch independently, or both can even be assigned to it at the same time, so you can fully emphasise just the right lick, chord, or progression at just the right time. This pedal even comes fitted with its own separate tuner output and a Mute switch, so you can tune up in silence and, since nothing here has been done in half measures, you're also getting every possible connection option: two instrument inputs; an amp output; two separate DI outputs, each via a balanced XLR port; a Pre-EQ output so your unprocessed signal can be sent to the PA mixing desk; and a Post-EQ output that can serve as your personal monitor mix.
