General
Shure - the brand of choice for numerous artists, both amateurs and professionals - has come up with a great starter-model dynamic microphone: the SV100. For an incredibly reasonable price, it gives you all you need for less demanding applications such as karaoke, simple presentations or low-budget vocals. The SV100 has a rugged housing and shares a few characteristics with the legendary SM 58 microphone. If you only have a limited budget to spend, and are looking for an optimal price/quality ratio, this is the microphone for you!
The concept behind the SV100
The SV100 was designed as a contender in the budget segment. Not everyone can afford a real SM58, after all. If you're looking for an all-round dynamic microphone for karaoke nights, mobile discos, pubs or clubs, the SV100 is an excellent alternative.
Technology and practical use
Like most Shure microphones, the SV100 has a black housing and a silver grille. Inside, it has a dynamic construction with a cardioid pickup pattern, ensuring that most sound in front of the mic is captured, while background noise from the crowd, speakers and monitors is largely ignored. That makes it ideal for stage use, but you can also use it as you walk among your audience. The Shure SV100 microphone comes with a 4.5-metre XLR-jack cable.
