If someone mentions Zildjian, most people will automatically think of cymbals. However, Zildjian has become a big name in drum sticks as well and the company makes sure that their sticks live up to the same high standards that they have set for their cymbals. Many famous artists proudly endorse these sticks and there are many different shapes and sizes, so there should be a perfect Zildjian stick for everyone!
One of those well-known artists is Mike Mangini. He is best-known for being the current drummer for progressive metal band Dream Theater, having replaced Mike Portnoy. Furthermore, Mike has set a number of records in the past, and was the first person to exceed 1200 single strokes in 60 seconds at the 2005 Winter NAMM, where he played 1203 single notes within that time frame.
Zildjian Mike Mangini Artist Series drum sticks: Laminated Bieerch
These Mike Mangini Artist Series drum sticks are an unusual pair. They are 16.5 inches long and 0.585 inches thick, with an acorn-shaped wooden tip. Even the most hard-hitting of players should be fine with these rather sizeable sticks. Finally, the sticks are made of laminated birch which gives them a very solid feel. Mike even presents his preferred pronunciation of this material: 'Laminated Bieerch' is printed under the Zildjian logo.
