General
These Vic Firth 85A drumsticks have a diameter of 0.555 inches and a length of 17 inches. They also have an extra long taper that gives them an excellent response and rebound. They're made of hickory and the wooden tip is tear drop-shaped.
Vic Firth Freestyle
Vic Firth Freestyle sticks are longer than standard sticks which means the centre of gravity is moved towards the front of the stick. The taper is longer too, however, which moves the centre of gravity backwards again leaving you with a stick that is beautifully balanced and has a larger 'sweet spot'.
Vic Firth expanded its already impressive assortment with four remarkable pairs of drumsticks. These are signature sticks for a number of very different drummers: Keith Moon (The Who), Ray Luzier (Korn), Jen Ledger (Skillet) en Chris Coleman (Stevie Wonder, Prince and Christina Aguilera, among others). Of course, all these sticks are made to suit their individual preferences.
Slippery drumsticks are a thing of the past thanks to the new ActiveGrip by Promark. Thanks to a special layer of lacquer, the grip gets better when the temperature of your hands rises. Handy!

Nothing beats the feel of playing with a pair of hard-wearing wooden drumsticks. If you know what we're talking about here, you probably don't go anywhere near plastic sticks and, just like all hard-core drummers, you take cleaning up all of those tiny chips of wood after an intense session for granted. Heads up if that's you, because Promark have masterfully mixed that trusty feel of wood with extreme durability to craft their FireGrain drumsticks.
Sad news from the United States: Everett 'Vic' Firth, founder of the renowned Vic Firth brand of drumsticks, has passed away at age 85. This was announced on the Vic Firth Company's web site on July 27th, 2015. Everett Firth was a pioneer in the world of drumsticks and mallets, and ever since the 1960s he's been setting the bar for the companies that followed.
