General
If things need get a little more solid, go for a pair of Vic Firth 5BN Terra Edition drumsticks. These sticks are slightly thicker than a set of 5As, immediately boosting the volume and giving your drum sound more body, while the nylon tip delivers enough power to slice through a wall of guitars - they also last longer than wooden tips. They've also been specially treated to bring out the hickory wood grain, making every example genuinely unique - an ode to nature - hence the name 'Terra' and, since sustainability starts at home, the wood used to make these sticks came from Vic Firth's own 'backyard' in Maine, where a new tree is planted for every tree felled.

Sad news from the United States: Everett 'Vic' Firth, founder of the renowned Vic Firth brand of drumsticks, has passed away at age 85. This was announced on the Vic Firth Company's web site on July 27th, 2015. Everett Firth was a pioneer in the world of drumsticks and mallets, and ever since the 1960s he's been setting the bar for the companies that followed.
