The Vic Firth American Classic 7A
While there are plenty of thicker and more popular sticks around, for jazz drummers there's really only one option: the Vic Firth American Classic 7A. Made of hickory, this stick helps shape a rich sound and lasts a long time. The relatively short length of 15.5 inches (less than 40cm) combined with a 0.54-inch thickness have resulted in a nice and light feeling stick suited for high-speed or more subtle drumming. Meanwhile, the teardrop-shaped tip creates a rich and clearly defined cymbal sound, finely balanced by the medium taper design to accommodate all styles of jazz.

This was announced on the Vic Firth Company's web site on July 27th, 2015. Everett Firth was a pioneer in the world of drumsticks and mallets, and ever since the 1960s he's been setting the bar for the companies that followed.
