If the volume of your kit could do with reining in a touch but using bits of tape is killing off the sound, then the Tama Soft Sound Ring is probably exactly what you and your kit need. Simply place this damping ring on the batter head and you'll immediately hear the result: reduced volume and resonance but without any loss of sonic character. This 13-inch ring is made from 6mm-thick foam rubber.
