General

The Drum Set Premium is a hand-selected collection of AKG microphones of the highest quality. This set is extremely well suited for live as well as studio use. In the set you will find a D12 VR microphone for the kick drum, a C451 B small-diaphragm condenser microphone for the Hi-Hat, four D40s for the snare and toms and a matched pair of C214 condenser microphones for overhead purposes. All these gems are safely kept in a robust metal carrying case, so that intensive on-the-road use won't be a problem either!

Drum Set Premium: The AKG D12 VR kick drum

The versatile AKG D12 VR is optimised to record a kick drum as well as possible. It is modelled after AKG's famous D12 kick drum microphone, just like the C214, which also retains a vintage feel. This dynamic D12 microphone can operate with or without phantom power. When phantom power is turned off, it provides a natural, clear reproduction. When the phantom power is switched on, you can choose from three sound types: open kick, closed kick and vintage sound.

The legendary AKG C451 B

The AKG C451 is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone with a wonderful, natural reproduction. In this set it serves as a hi-hat microphone, but the versatile microphone is also very well suited for registering other instruments, like pianos, guitars, wind and string instruments. In order to completely adjust the microphone to your preferences, you can use the two switches it is equipped with. One is used for the high-pass filter and one for the pre-attenuation pad.

Registering snare and toms with the AKG D40

To record the difference sounds of a drum kit, you will need to place your microphones close to the sound source. The maximum SPL level of the AKG D40 is a deafening 156 dB, so that this won't be a problem. Thanks to its robust exterior, the microphone can also take a hit from a drum stick. It produces a great sound, just like the other microphones from the sound.

Overheads with the C214 matched pair

For the overheads, this set is provided with two C214 condenser microphones. These produce a wonderfully full and natural sound and have an SPL of 156 dB, so that extremely loud drumming won't be a problem. The two microphones are hand-matched in Vienna, so that they sound virtually identical. Besides overhead use, the AKG C214 can also be used for vocals and nearly any instrument.
