General
Over the past ten years, Pearl has been perfecting their Decade Maple series. The result is a range of shells made of six plies of maple, resulting in a 5.4mm-thick construction that offers durability and resonance. The shells feature a Gloss Deep Red Burst lacquer finish with a gorgeous gradient that goes from deep red to black. This kit consists of a 22 x 18-inch bass drum, 10 x 7 and 12 x 8-inch toms, a 16 x 16-inch floor tom and a 14 x 5.5-inch snare. Besides the shells, you'll also receive the rugged HWP-830 hardware pack including bass drum pedal.
Optimal resonance
Pearl took various measures to optimise resonance to get the very best sound out of the maple used for the shells. One of those measures was the OptiLoc Suspension System, which involves the toms being mounted at two tuning points and one at the air vent. This offers stability at three points and minimal contact with the shell for optimal resonance. Pearl has also kept the lugs small and lightweight to minimise their impact on the sound of the shells.
Hardware pack
As mentioned before, this drum kit comes complete with the HWP-830 hardware pack, which consists of a stand for the snare drum, hi-hat and two cymbals, as well as a P-930 Demonator bass drum pedal. The 830 series stands are all double-braced for extra stability. This pack is therefore also suitable for beginners, but it also makes a great spare set for experienced drummers.
