Mapex Tornado TND5044TC-DK 5-Piece Kit: Off to a Good Start
To reach out to fresh-faced drummers and to help them get them pounding, rolling and filling as soon as possible, Mapex has included hardware, cymbals, a throne (stool) and bass drum pedal with this five-piece kit. No matter your age, with this Tornado drum kit, you're ready to rock! The bass drum snare and toms are fitted with redesigned lugs to keep the drum head (skins) tight and sounding great and the toms are kept firmly in place by the included tom holders. For this new Tornado drum kit, Mapex have even redesigned their badge. This kit comes with high-quality Remo drumheads.
Shells
The shells of this kit are made of basswood under ISO9001 certification. That means this product is manufactured according to the highest production standards. Furthermore, each Tornado drum kit is crafted exclusively by specially trained personnel in Mapex's own factory. This way you can be sure that you're getting a quality product! The basswood shells ensure a powerful low end and a great balance between mids and highs.
Hardware and cymbals
No matter what genre you want to start playing, you'll need good, stable hardware (stands). The stands included with this kit, have double-braced legs so you can be confident that they'll remain stable. Even the hardest, most enthusiastic cymbal hit at the close of your 15 minute long drum solos will struggle to topple one of these stands. To mount on your stands, you get a 14-inch hi-hat and 16-inch crash/ride. Sit comfortably on your drum throne; lay down your fattest backbeat with the robust single bass drum pedal and get block-rocking with this comprehensive, all in one, starter kit!

De mee geleverde vellen kun je zo stemmen dat ze degelijk klinken, zeker met wat dempringen zoals die van Remo's enzovoort. De vellen zelf zijn wel niet duurzaam en met stevig doorspelen heb je snel deuken in het vel zitten. Deze ben ik dus na een anderhalve maand gebruik ook al aan het vervangen.
Hetgeen waar je het prijspunt het meest voelt, dat zijn de cymbalen. De hi-hat klinkt verschrikkelijk als je met merken als paiste, meinl, sabian, zildjian hebt gespeeld, en ik raad iedereen wat deze set koopt, om dan van één van deze merken ook een hi-hat setje en een 16 inch crash van deze erbij te kopen.
Al bij al ben ik toch tevreden, het is een goedkope set die niet per se hoeft goedkoop te klinken. Er is zeker voor de beginnende speler veel mee te doen, en voor de iets ervarenere speler valt er nog heel wat uit te halen.
Wel heb ik er zelf nieuwe bekkens en uiteraard goede drumstokken bij gehaald. Maar serieus, de rest is echt degelijke kwaliteit. De hardware hoeft niets onder te doen voor bijvoorbeeld een Pearl. Er zitten REMO vellen op de trommels en de kruk zit stevig en comfortabel.
Ja ja, ook ik zal over een paar jaar wel een beter, duurder en groter drumstel gaan aanschaffen. Maar ook te beginnen zeg ik zeker doen! Dit spul gaat jaren mee!!
En oja, had ik al gezegd dat het er ook nog eens best mooi uit ziet? ;-)
