General

Mapex offers drum kits in different price categories, ranging from beginner sets to professional, high-end kits. The Armory series offers intermediate kits geared towards pop and rock drummers in particular, at affordable price levels too. This 6-piece shell set sports an Ultramarine finish and comes without hardware and cymbals. While this isn't a complete kit, it does give you the freeom to determine and fine-tune your sound before you buy a set of matching cymbals.

Mapex Armory AR628SCUM Ultramarine 6-piece shell set

The shells are made of a combination of birch and maple and measure 7.2 mm in thickness. Because the outer layers are birch and the inner ones maple, a balanced sound with tons of focus, tone and excellent articulation arises from this kit. Birch boosts the highs and lows, while the maple ensures balanced mids. For optimal sound projection and resonance, Mapex have fitted the patented SONIClear mounting system for tom suspension, floor tom legs and hoops. Each shell is finished with chrome-plated hardware.
