This Mapex Armory Studioease 628F-CBI shell set is excellently suited for a wide range of musical styles, as it is equipped with relatively shallow toms. The lack of depth gives the toms enhanced response and makes it easier to tune them quite high, without sacrificing projection or body. This six-piece studio shell set in Photon Blue consists of a 22-inch bass drum, 10 and 12-inch toms, 14 and 16-inch floor toms and a 14 x 5.5-inch Tomahawk snare.

Mapex Armory 628F-CBI Studioease shell set Photon Blue: 6-ply hybrid shells

The hybrid shells of this six-piece shell set are made of six plies of birch and maple, and they're 7.2mm thick. The combination of these two wood types results in a rich and unique sound with great resonance and plenty of punch. The excellent resonance of the shells is partly thanks to the SONIClear suspension system, which makes minimal contact with the 10 and 12-inch shells and keeps the vibrations of the shells and drumheads contained within the toms themselves. The bass drum is fitted with isolating claw hooks with a rubber lining. This lining doesn't just prevent the hooks from damaging the hoops of your bass drum, it also prevents the claw hooks from rattling as you play.

Tomahawk 14 x 5.5 inch snare drum

Armory shell sets come with the 14 x 5.5-inch Mapex Tomahawk ARST4551CEB snare drum as standard. This snare drum with a 1mm thick shell has a large projection range and accurate response. With its 45-degree bearing edges, this snare delivers a bright, loud sound with great resonance. The bass drum in the Studioease models is what you'd call a 'virgin bass drum', which means it does not have a tom mount. Instead, the shell set comes with tom clamps and tom arms, which allow you to attach your toms to your cymbal stands. This does not just provide you more with freedom to create the perfect set-up, but a virgin bass drum also has a more powerful low end.
