General

This Odyssey-made flight case offers a tight battle-ready base for a 10" mixer and a pair of turntables. Built to protect and serve, the Remixer Glide Series FZGSPBM10WBL case also includes some useful features for the DJ-turned-remix-producer that uses keyboards, controllers, and, laptops. This case manages to provide all. Besides the reinforcing stackable ball-corners and sunken handles and latches, a gliding laptop shelf has been fitted and can even provide a stable base for gear other than your laptop. Cable management is taken care of by integrated ports in all the right places and your gear is kept cool by built-in ventilation, even when tucked up inside the foam-lined interior. Eased control access is offered by the removable V-cut front panels and a set of back-saving wheels has also been fitted to the base. The whole case comes coated in a satisfying black paint job.

Ik heb dit product gekocht naar aanleiding van een upgrade van mijn DJ set-up. Allereerst wil ik zeggen: wat tof dat Bax dit product verkoopt. Battle-styled flightcases zijn eigenlijk veel populairder in Amerika en niet zo bekend in Europa. Om dan van het merk Odyssey dit op voorraad te hebben is top.

Ik heb dit product nu ±2 maanden en het bevalt me ontzettend! De 'build' voelt stevig aan door het gebruikte materiaal: combinatie van metaal op de randen en hoeken + hard plastic op de oppervlakte. De wieltjes zijn ook top voor wanneer ik mijn flightcase wil vervoeren (ik heb bijvoorbeeld binnenkort een huisfeest waar ik zal draaien; ik ben volkomen een amateur/bedroom DJ trouwens). Ook heb je ontzettend veel ruimte op het schuifpaneel, waar ik bijvoorbeeld mij laptop en kleine MIDI-controller kwijt kan (op de foto oogt het klein, maar je hebt echt veel ruimte!). De gaten in dit schuifpaneel zijn ook handig voor de organisatie van je kabels van je mixer naar laptop bijvoorbeeld (er zijn er twee).

Echter een paar verbeterpunten wellicht voor Odyssey. Ten eerste zou een handleiding wel handig zijn. Ik bedoel, het is natuurlijk geen hogere wiskunde - de draaitafels en mixer worden zoals op de foto geplaatst - alleen er zaten ook extra schuimblokken in de flightcase die je kon plaatsen op specifieke plekken, mochten de afmetingen van je draaitafels een klein beetje verschillen dan het standaard formaat. Het was alleen niet duidelijk welke precies waar hoorde, aangezien deze steunblokken gewoon los in de flightcase zaten, dus dat was even puzzelen, maar in principe merk je vanzelf wel waar er meer steun nodig is (bijvoorbeeld waar er nog extra ruimte over is naast je draaitafels). Ook was het in eerste instantie onduidelijk dat de draaitafels er alleen in passen als je de pootjes eronder afdraait. Verder krijg je ook 3 grote vierkante schuimblokken mee (2 om je draaitafels op hun plek te houden, en 1 voor de mixer). Het is soms lastig om deze goed te plaatsen. Zelfs met de pootjes eraf zit er wel weinig ruimte tussen de onderkant van het schuifpaneel en je draaitafels + mixer, wanneer de flightcase compleet gesloten is. Echter geeft dit ook geruststelling omdat je dan wel 100% zeker weet dat alles in ieder geval goed en stevig in de flightcase zit.

Al met al een goed en betrouwbaar product!
