General

Meet the MP2014, the compact successor to the popular MP2015 that was declared revolutionary after its introduction at the NAMM show last year. Its audio quality and user-friendliness proved it to be the only mixer on the market that could unite analogue and digital functionality so well. The MP2014's tasteful exterior features wooden sides surrounding a matte black front panel adorned with aluminium rotary knobs. The rear of this device shows just how much technology is hiding under the bonnet. To give you an idea of what it's capable of: it's suitable for 24-bit high-res audio studio master sources.

Powerful all-rounder

Thanks to its many inputs, DJs can hook up anything they need to the MP2014. There is an RCA connection available on each channel for a turntable, CD player, or other device that can be plugged into an AUX (like a turntable and a media player side by side). Playing back-to-back is no problem with this mixer thanks to its two USB ports and the possibility to send up to six channels. You can also use these connections to record, in which case, you'll have up to 14 channels at your disposal. Use Session inputs to connect an analogue (RCA) or digital (S/PDIF) mixer to the Rane MP2014, or as a third line-in.

Get tweaking!

Now that you've got everything plugged in, you can start mixing. Each channel features the same row of knobs. At the top, you can select which input you want to use, and underneath that, you'll find the gain control and a clear peak meter. A bit further down, you'll see a 3-band equalizer with a filter knob below it which you can assign as high or low-pass, or even high-low, should both be present in your project. With the knob next to this one, you can adjust the resonance. At the very bottom, you'll find the volume control. At the very top, there are three general 3-band EQs with an assignable crossover.

RANE DJ MP2014 rotary mixer
Wrote the following about RANE DJ MP2014 rotary mixer
(kleine studio)

NAMM 2016: RCF and dB Technologies Present Spin-Off Mixars

Thursday 21 January 2016 By Lizanne

The last couple weeks, we've only seen online teasers of the new brand, Mixars. Apparently, the brain behind this company is in Italy at dB Technologies! Yes, that's right. dB Technologies is known for a countless number of smooth-sounding active loud speakers. It's therefore pretty remarkable that this brand is announcing their debut in a time where the DJ market seems pretty over-saturated as it is. It's been years since a serious DJ brand appeared out of nowhere, and the Italians sure seems determined to succeed with their entry-level product range and is ready to take on some heavy competition.
